Basic sauna equipment in player's home: sauna stove, ladle and bucket.

Sauna is a small room or building designed as a place to experience heat sessions. Sauna is a remarkable part of Finnish culture, and that's why there are two saunas in My Summer Car for the player to use. The sauna reduces the player character's stress level.

The basic principle of sauna is to have a pile of stones heated up by electricity or firewood in a small room. When the stones are hot enough, you're supposed to throw water on them to get steam. Usually Finns are naked in the sauna, but depending on the circumstances people can wear also bathing suit or towel.

How to use the saunaEdit

One sauna is located at the back of the player's home. Move through the kitchen and the rear door into the appliance room, and continue opening doors until you get there.

The sauna in player's home is electric. The sauna stove has two dials on the bottom, one for temperature and one for timer. Turn both bottom dials clockwise to the maximum and the stove will start buzzing. When the stove is turned on, the sauna temperature increases about 20 °C every 60 seconds. See the thermometer on the sauna wall.

Remember to close the sauna door or otherwise the sauna won't heat up! While waiting for the sauna to heat up, fill the bucket up by placing it under a running tap. There's one in the shower room and in the kitchen.

Sauna instruction steam

Sit on the seat directly in front of the stove, point slightly over the stove and right-click to throw water to get steam. Enlarge the picture to see the crosshair.

When the sauna is hot enough, take the bucket with you to the seat, pick up the ladle and equip it using the action button (default F). Left click the filled bucket, aim slightly above the stove and right click to throw water and enjoy the steamy goodness!

It can be tricky to throw water onto the stones, so try different angles. The most effective approach is to move the character to the seat directly in front of the stove, aiming slightly above the stove and then throwing the water.

Wait for the hissing sound to stop before splashing again to ensure you get the desired effect of reducing your stress, going too quickly may not register. You can throw water 13 times if you filled the bucket to the brim, after that you have to refill the bucket.

If the sauna is left on and allowed to continue to heat up, it can result in the room been burnt down.

You'll get the "Welcome to Finland" Steam achievement for successfully using the sauna, and the "Golden steam" for urinating on the stove.

How to use the firewood saunaEdit

After the February 5th 2017 update, there is now a traditional firewood sauna in the cottage located on the island. Using it is quite simple; chop some wood behind the cottage, put some firewood in the stove (fits 4 at a time) then press the use button to light it. You might have to refill the stove before the sauna gets hot enough. The water bucket is filled by submerging it in the lake.
